Leadership, Governance & Human Rights (LGHR) programme of the University of the South Pacific (USP)
Mission
The LGHR programme was established in 2012 to strengthen the governance and human rights aspects of future leaders across the Pacific Island countries. The aim is to embed capacities to monitor and document crimes, corruption and/or any form of injustice that puts our societies at risk of harm. A course on human rights defenders was launched in 2022 in partnership with Pacific Regional Office, UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (DG201 - Introduction to the Role and Challenges of Human Rights Defenders and DG302 - Building Resilience among Human Rights Defenders).
