APR2P, in partnership with other human rights and genocide prevention organisations around the world, have signed an open letter regarding the treatment of Uyghur and other Turkic-Muslim peoples in the Xinjiang region of China.
Human rights observers and UN experts have continued to raise concerns over the treatment of these peoples in China. There is recent evidence to suggest that actions carried out by the Chinese government against Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples constitute crimes against humanity and acts of genocide.
In light of this evidence, APR2P and our partners urge the UN Human Rights Council to investigate the human rights violations in Xinjiang, along with the implementation of commitments to atrocity crime and genocide prevention through diplomatic efforts.
The letter can be accessed from the Statements page, or alternatively can be downloaded here (PDF, 206KB).
