Risk Assessment: New Caledonia

Today the Asia Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect unveils the newest addition to its Risk Assessment Series: New Caledonia.

Using the UN Framework of Analysis for Atrocity Crimes, the Risk Assessment examines New Caledonia's history as a former French colony in the Pacific.

It discusses the effects of French colonialism on the politics and societal makeup of New Caledonia's islands, and how the continuing independence movement influences the risks of political upheaval and atrocity crimes.
