The seventh annual meeting for the Asia Pacific Partnership for Atrocity Prevention (APPAP) took place on 15 November, 2023. The meeting was held virtually, and gave members an opportunity to provide insights and updates into the happenings of the Working Groups and other APPAP projects.
Specifically, participants heard updates from the COVID-19 Working Group, the Working Group on Gender and Atrocity Prevention, and the Working Group on the Prevention of Hate Speech and Disinformation, as well as project summaries of the CSIS Hate Speech Dashboard, the SOS Hate Speech Reporting Mechanism, and the Research Initiatives Bangladesh's recent data collection in Cox's Bazar.
As well as providing summaries of their work, participants finalised recommendations for the new year, including six seminars to discuss APPAP activites, and a face-to-face meeting in 2024.
