Together with the School of Political Science & International Studies (POLSIS) the Centre is committed to developing a thriving PhD community and welcomes applications from prospective students interested in undertaking their PhD at the Centre. The Centre especially welcomes PhD applicants interested in advancing knowledge and policy in our three priority research programs:
- Program 1: Regional Diplomacy and Capacity Building
- Program 2: Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities
- Program 3: Doctrine, Concepts and Inter-Agency Coordination
The Centre prides itself on providing PhD candidates with high quality supervision by world-class academics with links to leading policy experts in the field. The Centre’s commitment to PhD students is enhanced by The University of Queensland’s (UQ) dedication to research. UQ is consistently ranked in the top three research universities in Australia and is among the top 1 per cent of universities in the world.
Facilities and Services Available to PhD Students:
The Centre has shared office accommodation for use by full-time postgraduate research students, as well as photocopying, printing, mail and telephone facilities. The PhD community in the Centre is small but high quality and we think the intellectual environment is very positive for them.
The University Library is the largest in Queensland and contains over 1,540,000 volumes of books and periodicals as well as microfilm and audio-visual material. The collection is growing at an average rate of 40,000 volumes per year. There are 19,690 current periodical titles. Online retrieval facilities exist with access to major Australian and overseas databases, and the Library itself has been refurbished to integrate advanced information technology systems with traditional services. An inter-library loan service is available between all Australian campuses and public libraries.
The University provides students with access to a comprehensive range of computing facilities, free email account and limited dial-in/internet access.
