Mr Alistair Gee
Alistair is the co-founder and Executive Director of the Sydney-based Centre for Armed Violence Reduction. The Centre endeavours to achieve a reduction in armed violence at a regional and national level by taking a whole of government approach and partnering with officials and key actors to deliver on violence prevention goals. The Centre is also responsible for the ArmsTracker system, which enables accurate record keeping of arms and ammunition and effective enforcement of weapons controls.
Over recent years, Alistair has also been Chairman of a number of other protection-related initiatives, including :
- Thai Burma Border Consortium which provides humanitarian assistance to 240,000 displaced Burmese;
- Australian Council for International Development’s Advocacy and Public Policy Committee;
- Refugee Advice and Casework Service (Australia);and
- (Co-Convenor) of Make Poverty History – a coalition of 60 aid agencies campaigning on halving extreme poverty globally.
