Dr Shazelina Zainul Abidin is currently the Ambassador-Designate of Malaysia to the Republic of Senegal. She started her service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996. She was the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Policy Planning and Coordination prior to her appointment to the Republic of Senegal.

Dr. Shazelina Zainul Abidin previous postings include Washington, D.C. and New York at the United Nations. Her involvement with the responsibility to protect began in 2009, when she was the Minister Counsellor of the Permanent Mission of Malaysia involved with issues of the General Assembly.
