Hai Hong Nguyen is interested in democratic theory, participatory local democracy, governance and civil society. Hai recently completed his PhD with a thesis focusing on the political dynamics of grassroots democracy in Vietnam. He had teaching experience in political science and international relations both in Vietnam and at the University of Queensland for the School of Political Science and International Studies. Hai has been a regular contributor to academic literature in Vietnam and international online forums, has also translated a large volume of academic texts. Hai started his academic studies with a bachelor in translation/interpretation at Hanoi Foreign Languages University. He has also completed a Bachelor in Jurisprudence in 2002, a Masters in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law in 2005 and a Doctor of Philosophy in March 2015.
