Dr Noeleen Heyzer is the former Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Special Advisor to East Timor, where she worked to support peace-building, state-building and sustainable development efforts.

She has served as the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) from 2007 - 2014. In that time she has been involved with many initiatives focusing on regional cooperation and development.

She obtained her Doctorate in Social Sciences from the University of Cambridge and Master of Sciene and BA (honours) from the University of Singapore.
