Dr Shields is a Lecturer in the field of cultural studies and the Holocaust. He teaches at UQ, The University of Southern Queensland and the Australian Catholic University, and is a member of the Australian Institute for Holocaust and Genocide Studies.
He is an Auschwitz Jewish Center Fellow, and a Fellow of the Institute on the Holocaust and Jewish Civilisation at Royal Holloway University of London.
