Atrocity crimes in Myanmar?

26 Oct 2021

APR2P's newest briefing paper examines the violence occurring in Myanmar following the military coup in February 2021, and whether such violence could be construed as atrocity crimes.

The paper outlines the violent incidents that have occurred in Myanmar following the coup, and provides detailed analysis of such violence against conventions of international law to determine whether the Tatmadaw has committed atrocity crimes upon the people of Myanmar.

It also provides recommendations for UN member states on how to respond to the violence in Myanmar.

The briefing paper can be downloaded here (PDF, 1.1MB), or can be read from our APR2P Reports page, along with more documentation about atrocity crimes and other related issues.
