2022 Updates of R2P Implementation

27 Sep 2022

Following the release of Implementing the Responsibility to Protect in the Asia Pacific (PDF, 1.8MB) in May 2022, APR2P has released assessements for all 21 countries referenced in the report.

The assessments utilise a framework based upon the UN's Framework of Analysis for Atrocity Crimes and the UN Secretary-General's annual reports on R2P, to determine how effective a country is at implementing R2P.

The updated assessments are current for 2022, and build upon the 'baseline' assessments of 2019, to determine in which areas a country has either improved, declined, or has remained unchanged in their approach to R2P and the prevention of atrocity crimes.

The assessments can be accessed from our R2P in the Asia Pacific page under the individual country sections, along with the previous assessments and other documents related to atrocity prevention.
