The report finds that there are continuing challenges faced by countries in East Asia in ensuring the protection of populations not just from the ongoing threat posed by COVID-19 despite the lifting of health measures. Local and foreign migrant workers, for example, are the most vulnerable group who need sustained access to health services and welfare assistance given the slow economic recovery in the aftermath of COVID-19. Those in conflict-affected countries like Myanmar, have been impacted by the income incompetence of the military government not just in the delivery of basic services but more importantly in ensuring the rule of law.
