Good International Citizenship: The Case for Decency
About Good International Citizenship: The Case for Decency
Join APR2P and the UQ community for the launch of Good International Citizenship: The Case for Decency, by Gareth Evans AC QC.
In his new book, Gareth examines why a country like Australia should care about issues that do not immediately affect us, such as poverty, human rights and environmental catastrophes.
He argues for a State to be a good international citizen is both a moral imperative and a matter of hard-headed national interest, and examines whether Australia could be considered as such.
Gareth Evans AC QC was a Cabinent minister in the Hawke-Keating governments, and served as Australia's Foreign Minister from 1988 to 1996. After leaving politics, he was president of the International Crisis Group from 2000 to 2009, and Chancellor of the Australian National University from 2010 to 2019.
