APR2P today releases its updated report on how well countries within the Asia Pacific adopt and adhere to the principle of R2P.
Implementing the Responsibility to Protect in the Asia Pacific - An Assessment of Progress and Challenges is an update of the first report, published in October 2019. It uses a methodology based on the UN Secretary-General's annual reports on R2P and the Framework of Analysis for Atrocity Crimes.
The updated report examines how the region has dealt with increased autocracy, ongoing atrocities and the COVID-19 pandemic in their efforts to protect vulnerable populations from atrocity crimes.
The updated report can be downloaded here (PDF, 1.8MB), or from the R2P in the Asia Pacific page, along with the previous version.
