For students or young professionals with experience doing research who wish to undertake a research project with the Centre, we offer the possibility of a fellowship The Centre particularly welcomes research proposals in our priority areas: Regional Diplomacy and R2P; Genocide and Mass Atrocities Prevention, including the prevention of widespread or systematic gender and sexual based violence; and R2P norm-building and doctrinal development.
We encourage students to enrol in relevant POLSIS independent study courses to gain academic credit. These are offered during semesters 1 and 2 (February-June; July-November). It may also be possible to enrol for an Independent Study during the Summer Semester (December-January) if Course Co-ordinators and supervisors are available during the Summer recess. Undergraduate students currently enrolled at the University of Queensland (UQ), School of Political Science and International Studies (POLSIS) may undertake a project with the Centre for credit towards their degree, subject to the fulfilment of requirements for POLS3802 (Independent Study). The relevant postgraduate Independent Study courses are POLS7202 for students of the Master of International Studies and POLS7108 for postgraduate students of the Master of Governance and Public Policy. The Independent Study courses are restricted entry courses. Students need to seek prior approval from the School.
For information on how to apply for a research project for university credit, please first consult the relevant POLSIS Independent Study course guidelines (see links to courses above). Students seeking to undertake a project with the Centre for credit towards their degree should in the first instance consult Marian Ophof, Student Enquiries Officer, POLSIS (email@example.com), or in her absence contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
For students and young professionals who, for various reasons, are not eligible, or do not wish to enrol in these courses, it might be possible to arrange an independent study with the Centre, to gain research experience or in preparation for a PhD. For enquiries, please contact the Centre Manager (email@example.com). Please submit a relevant research question and 200 word expression of interest, together with a copy of your transcript to firstname.lastname@example.org by February 2016 for commencement in Semester 1, 2016 or by July 2016 for commencement in Semester 2, 2016.
