Atrocity Risk Analysis and Strategies for Prevention

The Atrocity Prevention Snapshot is a quarterly publication that provides a brief overview of atrocity risks across the region, noting key recent or projected future developments that may affect the risk of atrocities.

Country Studies provide a more in-depth analysis of risk factors for atrocities in a particular place and time. To analyse the risk, the Centre relies on the UN Framework of Analysis for Atrocity Crimes (2014), alongside other early warning tools, and applies a gender-responsive lens that acknowledges the correlation between gendered violence, gender inequality and atrocity risk. Exacerbating or triggering factors are also explored, such as climate change related crises.

Strategies for Prevention reports offers recommendations for addressing or mitigating the risks identified in the country study. The options are based on the 2023 Framework For Action on Atrocity Prevention, and look at national, regional and international actions.
